“I don’t give a rat’s that he’s not playing league. I’m proud as punch, whatever sport they get the opportunity in. Union showed Matt the way and gave him the opportunity to get to all the places he’s been in the last 12 months — it’s fantastic. I’m out there watching the games and enjoying it, and seeing the success coming his way with the Brumbies. Mate, he’s old enough to make a decision and I think he’s made the right one.

He’s got brothers who are still playing league, so there’s still a bit of shit flying around the house, but it’s positive more than anything. He’s handling it pretty good. He’s always been a pretty sensible sort of kid — except for the hairstyle (laughs).”

" Ben Perkins (Wallabies kicking coach) gave me the name Kid Dynamite and it stuck. It is good. It’s a lot to live up to, but it’s a bit of fun." ~ Giteau answers cheerfully to the nickname Kid Dynamite.

What grinds my gears 1# -
"What really grinds my gears is how grossly underappreciated this man is. He is a talent, and I’m not being bias here, or saying this ‘cos he is damn fine to look at. He is an exceptional player. And I remember the first game I ever watched with him in it, and I was totally taken aback by how good he was. He is part of the reason why I got into rugby."(side note, him and several other players. Not all players in the Australian teams…)

The birth of Matt Giteau

And on this day all was well. All of the world rejoyced, and the heavens smiled upon the birth of this child. And with tenderness and love in his heart God said upon the child ‘Let this day be remembered for all. May the world look upon him and think to thineself that yes, a great man stands before them. May his eyes be deep enough to melt even the cruelest womans heart, and may he be swift, and powerful so that all men look upon him, with admiration and envy, and know that he was, a mighty player.’

And so it has been
